Start Em’ –
Vick Ballard – Thursday night should easily be won by the colts giving Vick Ballard ample opportunity to assert himself as the lead dog in this somewhat muddles backfield. Donald Brown may suit up tonight but should not steal too many touches but don’t be surprised if Delone Carter steals a few of the goal line looks. Either way start Ballard with confidence, the matchup with the Jaguars 27th ranked rush defense certainly warrants high expectations.
Malcolm Floyd – Opposing passers have failed to eclipse 300 yards though the air only 3 times this season! Those passers who failed were Brady Quinn, Tony Romo and Christian Ponder. Phillip Rivers is better than all three of them making Malcolm Floyd a must start against the league’s worst pass defense. He may not get the touchdowns (I expect Antonio Gates to get those) but he will rack up yardage.
Jonathan Dwyer / Isaac Redman – Check the injury reports first but if both are playing, both are start-able against a terrible chiefs run defense (22nd in the league currently) The Pittsburgh Steelers should be up big in this one and running the ball in the second half making both running backs viable fantasy football options this Monday night.
Sit Em’ –
Rashad Jennings – The match up looks promising on paper so this is a bit of a gut feeling. I just cannot trust this Jacksonville offense. I get feeling Indianapolis gets rolling in this one forcing Jacksonville to abandon the run early limiting Rashad Jennings touches.
Matt Forte – This Texans defense is good, I mean really good. They rank 2nd in the league against the run and 4th against the pass. As multi dimensional as Matt Forte can be this matchup may be to much for him to overcome. If you own him odds are you’re starting him but don’t expect big things this week.
Steven Jackson – I usually like running backs coming off the bye week but in this case poor Steven Jackson is walking into the lion’s den. The San Francisco 49er’s are stout defensively and should have their ears pined back coming off of their own bye week. I would be surprised if Jackson eclipses 50 yards in this one especially when you factor in his current time share with Daryl Richardson. Let him ride the pine in week 10.

With week 7 underway a lot of your may be scrambling for a bye week fill in for some of your fantasy football studs. This week Atlanta, Denver, Kansas City, Miami, Philadelphia and San Diego are off. There a quite a few starters missing this week and many waiver wires have already been hit hard. If you missed out earlier in the week you may find some fantasy gold deep down on the depth chart.
Notable Quarterbacks out this week; Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Michael Vick and Phillip Rivers.
I would certainly hope even the most amateur fantasy football players have a reasonable back up quarterback on their roster but that’s not guarantee. That said, there is a decent chance the top 24 quarterbacks are already gone leaving you with slim pickings. If you have failed to plan ahead and do not have a quality back up I would check the waiver wire for Josh Freeman. Thus far he has been pretty unreliable so should be lurking out there on the wire somewhere. Snatch him up if he is, the Bucs face the Swiss cheese New Orleans Defense this week at home!
Notable Running Backs out this week; Michael Turner, Willis Mcgahee, Jamaal Charles, Reggie Bush, Lesean McCoy and Ryan Mathews.
The running back position has never been thinner when it comes to fantasy football. When you take out 6 of the top backs in the league there are sure to be some deep sleepers in starting lineups this week. Assuming Felix Jones has already been taken, consider Phillip Tanner. The third string running back in Dallas could very well be in line for goal line duty this week against a porous Carolina defensive front. A savvy owner must also consider that the solution to his or her bye week woes might already be on their roster. Don’t be a dinosaur, start three wide receivers and two running backs! That flex spot is not reserved for running backs like it was a decade ago!
Notable Wide Receivers out this week; Roddy White, Julio Jones, Demayrius Thomas, Eric Decker, Dwayne Bowe, Brian Hartline, Jeremy Maclin, Desean Jackson and Malcolm Floyd.
With all these fantasy football studs out this week we have seen an influx of trade advice emails! If you were unable to pull off your deal you may be looking to the bargain bin for wide receiver help. I might consider some of the following; Mike Williams (Tampa Bay) Emanuel Sanders (Pittsburgh) Darius Heyward-Bey (Oakland) Devery Henderson (New Orleans) All have decent match ups and could sneak in a touchdown.
Notable Tight Ends out this week; Tony Gonzalez, Jacob Tamme, Joel Dreesen (I guess..) Brent Celek, Antonio Gates.
Not a ton to mention here as the tight end position is pretty deep but if you are desperate why not Dallas Clark? He doesn’t get a ton of targets but he is a good route runner and about due for a decent game. This week against the 28th ranked New Orleans Pass defense is as good a time as any to roll the dice.
