Week 17 Bold Predictions
Welcome to the final week of the season-long fantasy football season and the final installment of “Bold Predictions,” well at least for this season. I’d like to shout-out a big thank you to David, @TradeFantasy, for giving me the opportunity to get my writing out there and giving me my first opportunity in the fantasy football game. He has been great and he is much appreciated. A lot of us are done with our championships, but for those that aren’t; I will still provide my predictions for this week. As always, we will take a quick look back at week 16 to see how things went.
Reasons to Toot My Own Horn
Reasons for Scorn
Now that we can move re-lived week 16 let’s get to week 17 by starting off with waiver-wire replacements.
*Remember that these players are owned in 50 percent of less of leagues.
QB: Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer
WR: Markus Wheaton, Kenny Britt, Rueben Randle
RB: Tre Mason, Cameron Artis-Payne, Isaiah Crowell, Jonas Gray
TE: Zach Miller, Will Tye, Vance McDonald
K: Shayne Graham, Nick Novak, Randy Bullock
DEF: Washington, New York Giants, Indianapolis
New York Jets at Buffalo
New York- I think the Jets are going to stick it to Rex Ryan and the Bills by making the playoffs in front of them. Fitzpatrick will throw for three touchdowns and 275 yards.
Buffalo- After torching Revis earlier in the year, Sammy Watkins will have less than 50 yards receiving this week.
New England at Miami
New England- I expect Tom Brady and Jimmy Garappolo to combine for four touchdown passes this week. And throw for a combined 350 yards.
Miami- Can someone step-up and finish the year off strong? I think the Dolphins try to showcase DeVante Parker against the Patriots. He will have 10 catches for 140 yards and a score. If he doesn’t have ten catches it’s because of the quarterback. He will see 16 targets at least.
New Orleans at Atlanta
New Orleans- Brees is going to sling it again this week and show everyone that he is still the man. Expect another 350 yard three touchdowns performance from him.
Atlanta- the Falcons are going to force feed Julio Jones and try to break some records this week. Jones is 17 receptions away from breaking Marvin Harrison’s 143 reception mark. Jones will break that this week. He is also 243 yards away from breaking the receiving yards in a season mark. He will break that this week too.
Detroit at Chicago
Detroit- Calvin Johnson has had the Bears’ number for a long time. That being said, I’m picking Golden Tate to have three touchdowns this week with 95 yards receiving.
Chicago- This is most likely Matt Forte’s last game with the Bears. I’m torn on deciding if they are going to feed him or Langford. I’m saying they honor Forte and give him at least 25 touches and he produces 130 yards and a score in his last game at Soldier Field.
Philadelphia at New York Giants
Philadelphia- The loser of this game will face the Rams in London next year. I think it will be the Eagles who lose. Kelly has been fired, so expect DeMarco Murray to get a heavy workload. Murray will have 20+ touches with two touchdowns and 100+ yards.
New York- Odell is going to destroy everything this week. Beckham finishes the game with two touchdowns and over 200 yards.
Washington at Dallas
Washington- This game is hard to predict since Washington is the only team who is locked in to their playoff spot, so the starters will play very limited time. Pierre Thomas will be the one who carries the load this week. He will finish with 120 all-purpose yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys.
Dallas- Kellen Moore is going to finish the season with a 220 yard two score game making case to be the back-up to Romo next year.
Tennessee at Indianapolis
Tennessee- Dorial Green-Beckham will close out the year strong with two touchdowns and 90 yards.
Indianapolis- If Freeman gets the start this week for Indianapolis, I’m picking him to throw for 260 yards and two scores with two turnovers.
Baltimore at Cincinnati
Baltimore- Kamar Aiken will connect with Mallett a lot this week. 130 yards and a score sounds about right.
Cincinnati- This is a week the Bengals have to win to give them time for Dalton to get back for the playoffs. A.J. Green is going to light it up again against Baltimore. He will have 160 yards and a touchdown.
Pittsburgh at Cleveland
Pittsburgh- After embarrassing themselves last week, the Steelers are going to destroy the Browns. It doesn’t matter if they don’t get any help though, they may not make the playoffs. Antonio Brown will have over 200 yards and two scores to close out the regular season.
Cleveland- Isaiah Crowell is going to lead the way for Cleveland’s backfield. He should have 90 yards and a score to make it four weeks in a row with a touchdown.
Jacksonville at Houston
Jacksonville- Look for the Jaguars to show the league what to expect next year, on offense at least. Bortles is going for over 400 yards and three touchdowns.
Houston- Alfred Blue will continue to underwhelm even with the highest amount of carries. Chris Polk will take over and gain 90 total yards with a score.
Oakland at Kansas City
Oakland- I expect Derek Carr and Amari Cooper to display their rapport this week to close out the year on a high note. Though Kansas City’s defense has been really good, they will hook-up for two touchdowns. Cooper will have 120 yards and Carr will throw for 250.
Kansas City- Spencer Ware will be the guy that has the most production this week. 130 yards and a score.
San Diego at Denver
San Diego- I don’t think the Chargers get more than three points in this game. Rivers won’t throw for more than 180 yards this week to end on a bad note.
Denver- This week Hillman will rush for over 100 yards and a score to lead the Broncos to a win.
Tampa Bay at Carolina
Tampa Bay- Doug Martin will be given every opportunity to lead the league in rushing yards. He is down by 64 yards to Adrian Peterson, and he will lead the league in rushing yards by the time this game is over. But that is until Peterson hits the field on Sunday night. Martin finishes with 120 yards against the Panthers.
Carolina- Cam Newton will throw for two three touchdowns and 250 yards to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Seattle at Arizona
Seattle- Seattle is going to get crushed this week. I expect them to do better than the Packers did last week, but still lose. Christine Michael will get above 100 yards though. That is the silver lining.
Arizona- Since they play at the same time as Carolina, the Cardinals will be playing all-out for the No.1 seed. Palmer throws for three touchdowns and 330 yards. Fitzgerald will get over 100 of those and one of those touchdowns.
St. Louis at San Francisco
St. Louis- I’m going with Trumaine Johnson to get three interceptions this week to finish with double digit interceptions on the year at 10. Kenny Britt will have two touchdown receptions.
San Francisco- The only thing I got for this game is five turnovers for the 49ers. Three interceptions and two fumbles.
Minnesota at Green Bay
Minnesota- Adrian Peterson is going to close out the regular season as the rushing champion. He is going to go over the 1,500 yard mark when all is said and done. He finishes this game with 130 yards and two touchdowns. Minimum.
Green Bay- Aaron Rodgers at home, after being embarrassed last week? He will throw for three touchdowns and 250 yards. One is going to DeVante Adams who drops everything.
That is all I got for this week’s edition of “Bold Predictions.” Look for more from me in the coming weeks and if you have any questions you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter @FantasyBold. Thank you all who have read this article during the year.
