Who to start in Week 15 FanDuel and Draftkings leagues!
Matthew Stafford (DET)
Draftkings - $6,100 Fanduel - $7,800
The Lions hit a bit of a speed bump last week against the St. Louis Rams and their stout defense but with a primetime matchup against the Saints on Monday Stafford and his offense should be able to get back on track. While the New Orleans defense did step up against their divisional rival last week I don’t see this being the case against Detroit and all of the weapons at their disposal. At a relatively low cost Stafford has a matchup that could put him in the top 5 performers in week 15. I see 300 plus yards to go along with a couple of touchdown strikes on Monday.
Matt Ryan (ATL)
Draftkings - $5,700 Fanduel - $7,200
My contrarian pick of the week! Matt Ice was humiliated last week against the vaunted Carolina Panthers Defense. Panthers are scary… Jacksonville Jaguars are also a type of wild beast jungle cat but certainly of the much more tame variety. Tame you ask? Tame in that they’ve been the 2nd most generous to opposing passers throughout the 2015 season. Ryan is better than he played last week. His price is right and he has weapons. Get him in a few lineups this week because he might go off and he’s not expected to be widely owned by the unwashed masses.
Running Backs –
Lamar Miller (MIA)
Draftkings - $6,300 Fanduel - $6,700
Last week Miller could have been an absolute monster if the Dolphins would have kept feeding him the rock, but for some reason they shied away from him after a huge first half. Lamar is hands down the best offensive playmaker that Miami has and he stated this week that he wants more touches. With a weak matchup on Sunday against a Chargers defense that doesn’t have a lot to play for look for Miami to feed Miller early and often. Being a dual threat by air and by ground I would not be surprised if Lamar sees 20-25 touches for 125 yards and 2 scores.
Denard Robinson (JAX)
Draftkings - $4,600 Fanduel - $6,300
Shoelace stepped in last week when Yeldon went down with a knee injury and hung 75 yards and touchdown on the reeling Colts defense. He could have had a bigger day had he not been stuffed at the goal-line too! He operated as an every down back and is expected to do the same this week with Yeldon still on the mend. Atlanta is the absolute best matchup for opposing running backs this season having yielded 1,248 yards on the ground and 750 yards receiving by opposing RB’s add in 18 touchdowns scored by opposing backs and you’ve got a cheap RB1 with massive upside. Start Denard Robinson with confidence in week 15.
Wide Receivers –
Doug Baldwin (SEA)
Draftkings - $5,800 Fanduel - $7,400
I know that I wrote about Baldwin last week in this same spot, but I am riding his coattails while he is absolutely scorching the earth. He draws another plus matchup this week against the lowly Cleveland Browns defense and should be able to roam free once again. I doesn’t hurt that Russell Wilson is performing at an extremely high level as well. The Seahawks will probably be up quickly in this one but I feel that Baldwin will do enough damage before the pull the plug on the passing game and just start pounding the rock. 85 yards on 6 receptions with another possible 2 scores will be in store this weekend.
Demaryius Thomas (DEN)
Draftkings - $6,800 Fanduel - $7,700
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the 7th most generous defense when it comes to opposing wide outs. Demaryius Thomas is far too talented to be bottled up forever and this one could prove to be a high scoring tilt as the Broncos visit the ever potent Pittsburgh offense on Sunday. The training wheels will have to come off young Osweiler if the Broncos want to win this one and my bet is Thomas is the benefactor. He is averaging 11 targets over the past 3 weeks and is going overlooked due to his lackluster production to date. This is DT’s week.
Tight Ends –
Eric Ebron (DET)
Draftkings - $3,000 Fanduel - $4,800
It truly is put up or shut up time for the young TE this week in a solid matchup against the New Orleans Saints. As I stated before Stafford will be coming after the Saints defense through the air and with Brandon Pettigrew out there should be no reason that Ebron doesn’t break free for a few big games and a score. With his value so low the potential that you should get in return will probably go unmatched. With the defense focusing on Golden Tate and Megatron I see Ebron reeling in 5 receptions for 75 yards and a score this week in New Orleans.
Ben Watson (NO)
Draftkings - $4,800 Fanduel $5,600
Ben Watson is averaging 9 targets per game over the last 3 weeks and draws a favorable match up at home vs Detroit on Monday night. Drew Brees is vastly superior on home vs. on the road and the matchup is juicy. Only 6 teams are more generous to tight ends than the lions who have also given up 10 touchdowns to the position. I’m thinking Ben gets at least one touchdown as Brees continues to look for the big man in the red-zone.
Patriots Defense –
Draftkings - $3,700 Fanduel $5,000
Back at full strength the New England defense was unstoppable last week. With a matchup against the Tennessee Titans this week they will continue to roll off of the momentum the gained in week 14 making the rookie Mariotta look pedestrian. Granted the Patriots defensive success coincides with their offensive success and with almost all of their weapons back on that side of the ball the Titans will be forced to keep up by airing it out. This will create many opportunities for some aggressive play calling by the Patriots and I see them disturbing the peace in the same way that they did against Houston.
Chiefs Defense –
Draftkings - $3,700 Fanduel - $5,200
12, 14, 19, 20, 5, 17, 14 - those are the last 7 point totals for the Chiefs defense and this week they draw the helpless Ravens. The ravens have scored 19 point the past two weeks and should put up little resistance in this one as they limp to the barn. Expect the Chiefs defense to rocking and rolling in this one. They are currently a 7 point favorite and I can’t imagine Baltimore will come close to covering that spread. The Chiefs will either be facing pick-6 machine Matt Schaub or the illuminating Jimmy Clausen – enjoy!
Jameis Winston (TAM)
Draftkings - $5,500 Fanduel - $7,800
Insert QB playing against the New Orleans Saints secondary here. Every week opposing quarterbacks have torn the New Orleans Saints defense apart and with Winston and the Buccaneers trending in a positive direction things aren’t going to turn around for the Saints on Sunday. In their first matchup earlier in the season Winston put up solid numbers against the Saints throwing as well as rushing for a touchdown and he has a much better grasp of the game speed and his offense this time around. I see Jameis putting up a 300 yard game this week while adding three scores through the ground and air.
Tyrod Taylor (BUF)
Draftkings - $5,400 Fanduel - $7,500
Tyrod is rolling right now having posted 26 points and 29 points in his last two outings (fanduel standard scoring) This week he draws the Philadelphia Eagles defense who is currently yielding the 4th most points to opposing passers having given up over 3,100 yards through the air along with 31 passing touchdowns. Tyrod's price tag makes him a bargain this week.
Running Backs –
Charcandrick West (KC)
Draftkings - $5,100 Fanduel - $5,800
My contrarian play of the week! Don't get me wrong, West will be owned but there are so many that are afraid of the time share that his ownership % won't be what it should be given the match up. San Diego has given up the 5th most points to opposing rushers with 13 Touchdowns and over 1,300 yards. I do think Spencer Ware is a decent start as well but West will get the Lion's share barring injury. This very well could be a "mail it in" game for the banged up chargers at Arrowhead so the ground and pound may come into full effect in the 2nd half. Again, it all comes down to price, with West the price is right!
Ryan Mathews (PHI)
Draftkings - $3,400 Fanduel - $4,700
After missing the last few weeks Mathews steps back in at the perfect time for him and the Eagles. With Demarco Murray in the dog house Matthews should be able to step in to a decent workload this week and put up some solid numbers. Throughout the season he has looked like the better back when compared to Murray and this week will not be any different. There are a lot of mouths to feed in the Philadelphia backfield but I see Mathews leading the way this week with 70 yards and a score on 14-15 touches.
Wide Receivers –
Doug Baldwin (SEA)
Draftkings - $4,500 Fanduel - $6,800
The last few weeks Doug Baldwin has been lighting the world on fire. With decently tough matchups against the Steelers and the Vikings Baldwin has amassed nearly 250 yards and 5 touchdowns. Going up against a weak Baltimore Ravens defense Baldwin should be able to slip past their secondary for 90 yards and a score on 7 receptions.
Alan Hurns (JAX)
Draftkings - $5,500 Fanduel - $6,600
Hurns has been banged up so he should be a bit under the radar this week despite a juicy match up with the Colts. Indianapolis has given up 16 touchdowns to wide receivers along with over 2,200 yards. After Allen Robinson's explosion last week expect Hurns to be far less owned and a sneaky cheap WR3 this week.
Tight Ends –
Draftkings - $2,700 Fanduel - $5,500
Finally back from his seemingly never ending injury ASJ was second on the team in targets last week despite getting limited snaps. After having no setbacks this week expect ASJ to ramp up his snaps for this tasty treat of a match up at home vs. New Orleans. The saints are dead last against opposing tight ends having yielded over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. This match up couldn't be better - literally! He should be widely owned but the odds of him panning out are too good to pass on.
Delanie Walker (TEN)
Draftkings - $5,600 Fanduel $6,100
With the emergence of Dorial Green-Beckham in Tennessee defenses are no longer able to key in on Walker like they have throughout the season. Not to say that he has put up bad numbers, which he hasn’t, but it should be easier sledding from here on out. He is a matchup nightmare for any opposing defense and he should lead the way this week against the New York Jets. Marcus Mariotta will be looking his way early and often and 85 yards and a score on 8 receptions would be a welcome addition to any squad.
Seahawks Defense –
Draftkings - $3,500 Fanduel $5,300
Going up against a Baltimore Ravens offense that is on life support should bode well for the Seahawks. With the Human Interception Matt Schaub questionable this week Seattle should be lining up opposite of Jimmy Clausen and it will not be pretty. Plenty of interceptions, sacks, and the Legion of Boom to go around this week.
Chiefs Defense –
Draftkings - $3,200 Fanduel - $4,800
12, 14, 19, 20, 5, 17 - those are the last 6 point totals for the Chiefs defense (the 5 came against the Bills and the elusive and also recommended week 14 play - Tyrod Taylor) The Chargers are reeling and should put up little fight at Arrowhead this Sunday. Stevie Johnson is out, Dontrelle Inman is out, The Chiefs are top defense in the NFL vs tight ends so Antonio Gate should be neutralized and lastly the Chargers have little running game to speak of. Their ears should be pinned back!
Ryan Fitzpatrick (NYJ)
Draftkings - $5,200 Fanduel - $7,500
NYG has given up 3,401 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season thus far in 2015. Ryan Fitzpatrick has slung for 2,476 and 20 touchdowns including 4 last week. He's heating up and draws the best possible match up in week 13. His receiving corps is rock solid and only improved with the return of Devin Smith so start him with confidence in this juicy match up and enjoy the savings!
Matt Stafford (DET)
Draft kings - $6,100 Fanduel - $7,500
The Lions offense has finally started to come together over the last 3 weeks and opposing defenses should certainly approach with caution. Leading the way is Stafford who has been playing with a toughness that seemed to be lacking throughout much of the regular season. With one win against the Packers under their belt this season on the road Detroit has the luxury of playing at home under the dome in what should be an offensive shootout from the get go. With Stafford’s cost still suppressed from Detroit’s earlier play he makes a great value to potential candidate as he should put up similar numbers to the QB lining up on the other side of the ball whose cost is much, much more. Watch Stafford put up 300 yards along with a pair of scores on Thursday night.
Running Backs –
Buck Allen (BAL)
Draftkings - $5,400 Fanduel - $6,800
After last week, Miami officially surpassed Cleveland as the worst rush defense in the league. Having given up a league worst 1,523 yards paired with 9 touchdowns this is an excellent spot to start the rookie rusher. He looked good against Cleveland last week (2nd worst rush defense in the league) but failed to post eye popping numbers. Nevertheless, he passed the eye test at least for one week. With the depleted Miami Linebacker corps he could run roughshod over this complete let-down of a unit! In DFS it’s all about match up and price - the math adds up for Buck Allen in week 13.
CJ Anderson (DEN)
Draftkings - $3,500 Fanduel - $6,800
Anderson had a breakout week against the Patriots in week 12 and with a solid matchup against a pathetic San Diego defense in week 13 the good times will keep on rolling. With Peyton Manning on the bench the Denver Broncos can run the offense that Coach Gary Kubiak prefers. The running game should lead the way and even with a split in carries Anderson will have his chance to shine. 80 yards on the ground with a score while adding 2-3 receptions for 30 yards is on tap for the upcoming match-up.
Wide Receivers –
Eric Decker (NYJ)
Draftkings - $6,300 Fanduel - $7,200
I love to stack in DFS - no doubt about that. If you are right you may have a gold mine! Decker has caught 8 of Fitzpatrick's touchdown passes but has yet to log a multi-touchdown game in 2015 – He is scoring frequently and you got think that streak ends this week with such a juicy matchup. His price is far cheaper than his counterpart Brandon Marshall and has drawn 32 targets in the past 3 weeks - Marshall has drawn 31...This is a WR1-A and WR1-B situation. Save your budget by using Decker.
Devin Funchess (CAR)
Draftkings - $3,700 Fanduel - $5,600
I know I may be going out on a limb here as Funchess has not played at the level many expected him to play in 2015, but he has an amazing matchup this week against an absolutely putrid New Orleans pass defense. The Saints defense will surely be focusing on shutting down Greg Olsen which will allow Funchess to roam free and put up some solid numbers. I see the rookie racking up 6 receptions, 70-80 yards and a score in week 13.
Tight Ends –
Travis Kelce (KC)
Draftkings - $4,700 Fanduel - $6,200
Teams have been torching Oakland all season and I see no reason Kelce won’t continue that trend in week 13. Zeus is due for a big week and this matchup is a perfect spot to get it done. Jeremy Maclin went off last weekend which should draw some of the defenses attention as will Charcadrick West. He’s drawn 23 targets over the past 3 weeks so the opportunity is there and he could build on a strong outing from last week (7/69/1 touchdown) Kelce is on the higher end of the tight end budget spectrum this week but it will be worth the expense. I do expect him to be highly owned due to the matchup but he should be one of those must have players if you want to cash in the big tournaments. I think he’s worth every penny this week.
Greg Olsen (CAR)
Draftkings - $6,400 Fanduel $6,600
Even though I stated that the Saints defense will be focusing on him in week 13 they will just not have any answer for Olsen. He is a matchup nightmare for defenses every week and the Saints have been living a nightmare since week one so it’s a perfect storm. I think that he is the number 1 TE play this week and the sky is the limit.
Bengals Defense –
Draftkings - $3,400 Fanduel $5,100
Austin Davis, need I say more? Seriously though it’s the spiraling Browns, it’s Austin Davis at the helm. The Bengals should take their in-state rival to the woodshed in this one just like they did a few weeks ago. When these two last met the Browns were held to 213 yards of total offense and a meager 10 points. With the new signal caller under center a few turnovers aren’t out of the question either. Unless you want to spring for the Cardinals the Bengals make a lot of sense in this match-up.
Texans Defense –
Draftkings - $2,500 Fanduel - $4,900
The Texans have really started to pick up their play on both sides of the ball and they get a Browns team that is completed deflated after the kick 6 in week 12. On top of it all they are starting a 3rd string QB since Johnny Football can’t step up to the plate and be a responsible human being. J.J. Watt is going to be a destructive force this week racking up sacks in bunches. In turn the rest of the defense should be able to play aggressively and take chances on picks, big hits, etc. Start them with confidence this week.
