Tom Brady (NE)
Draftkings - $7,700 Fanduel - $8,700
Yes, I know this pick may seem like a no brainer but Brady is absolutely on fire! Through two games he has over 750 passing yards and 7 touchdowns. Next he draws the lowly Jaguars at home it what should be a bloodbath. This is a game where many are expecting Legarette Blount to get rolling which would make sense expect for the fact that this is Bill Belicheck and he is a jerk. Expect the Patriots to run the score up in this one and yes I am recommending the Brady – Edelman Stack this week for sure.
Carson Palmer (AZ)
Draft kings - $6,600 Fanduel - $8,100
After another solid week I have to keep riding the Carson Palmer bus. Heading into a week 3 matchup at home against the San Francisco 49er’s I don’t see any reason to shy away from the veteran. His yardage totals left a little to be desired last week but his touchdown total sure did not and I see the Cardinals striking early and often this Sunday. Like I said before ride him while he is healthy and cost effective as it will allow to splurge on that big name wide receiver like an Antonio Brown.
Running Backs –
Latavius Murray (OAK)
Draftkings - $5,800 Fanduel - $7,000
Latavius had a solid outing last week and I look for him to build on that success in week 3 at Cleveland. The Browns have given up the most rushing yards in the league and Murray’s price is right as a solid value pick this week. He’s the only running back in Oakland worth anything so he’ll own all significant touches. The fact that he isn’t putting up amazing numbers yet has helped keep his price low as well, I expect that to change in week 3.
Melvin Gordon (SD)
Draftkings - $5,000 Fanduel - $6,700
In week 1 the Vikings were literally run over by Carlos Hyde and I see similar results in week 3 for Gordon. Week 1 was tough sledding for the rookie drawing a weaker, but still stout Detroit Lions defense and coming into week 2 there were concerns Gordon might not be the every down back he was drafted to be. Week 2 showed a much better Gordon that combined for almost 100 all-purpose yards against a very solid Bengals defense. He didn’t find the end zone, but I think that changes for him this week as he picks up his first and quite possibly second TD of the season in Minnesota.
Wide Receivers –
Draftkings - $6,200 Fanduel - $7,400
Normally I tend to stay away from anything Jets, but I’m starting to believe that Geno Smith getting rocked in the mouth was the best thing that could have happened to this team. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been fairly sharp through his first 2 games of the season and Brandon Marshall has been making good use of the targets heading his way. Facing the Philadelphia Eagles in week 3 I see Marshall taking advantage of a defense that has been a bit suspect up to this point in the season.
Calvin Johnson (DET)
Draftkings - $7,900 Fanduel - $8,200
Matt Stafford remembered who his favorite target was last week slinging the ball his way 17 times for 10 receptions, 83 yards and a score. The Lions will have their hands full in a must win at home Sunday night. If they have any chance at the W Calvin has got to be involved early and often and Stafford knows it. Stafford did practice in full on Wednesday so it should be all systems go for the Sunday night showdown. You’re spending a little more but it’ll be worth it.
Tight Ends –
Eric Ebron (DET
Draftkings - $3,300 Fanduel - $5,100
After a rookie season that left a lot on the table for Ebron it seems that he is now grasping his role and earning the trust of Mathew Stafford in the Detroit Lions offense. 2 tds in his first 2 weeks has certainly gained my attention and I think the good times keep on coming for the second year tight end in week 3. The Broncos are going to try and slow the Lions top 2 targets in Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate which will open up some great matchups for Ebron on Sunday night. Another touchdown and 65-75 yards should be easily attainable in week 3 for the young TE.
Gary Barnidge (CLE)
Draftkings - $2,500 Fanduel - $4,500
Ok, remember that money you just spent on Calvin Johnson? You can make up for it here with this bargain basement tight end Gary Barnidge. Who you might ask? He’s the top tight end in Cleveland. Remember last week when people asked who Crockett Gilmore was? It’s going to be kind of like that. The Raiders have given up 200 yards and 4 touchdowns to opposing tight ends in the past two weeks! For those keeping track that’s good for dead last in the league by a wide margin. If you blew the budget elsewhere, make up for it here.
Seahawks Defense –
Draftkings - $3,400 Fanduel $5,300
I know the Seahawks are the most expensive defense in week 3 but this will be money well spent. Cutler is unlikely to play, same goes for Alshon Jeffery. That leaves Eddie Royal catching passes from Jimmy Clausen while the legion of boom (who just got Kam Chancellor back) keys on Martellus Bennet and Matt Forte. Not to mention the game is in Seattle. Spend the money.
Panthers Defense –
Draftkings - $3,100 Fanduel - $4,600
It is hard for me to bet against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints over the last few seasons but with the Hall of Fame QB nursing a sore shoulder this week I see rough times ahead against a solid Carolina Panthers defense. The Panthers will bring the blitz against the Saints from the get go forcing the Saints to make quick decisions which are going to lead to a few picks, sacks, and fumbles.
