Who to start in Week 4 Fan Duel and Draftkings leagues!
Derek Carr (OAK)
Draftkings - $5,300 Fanduel - $7,000
After last week’s offensive outburst many have jumped on the Oakland Raider bandwagon and for week four you should hitch a ride as well. Facing a Bears defense that just shipped out Jared Allen and Jon Bostic the up and coming Raiders offense should have a field day. Carr has the potential to bring you top 10 quarterback numbers this week on the cheap allowing you to spread your daily fantasy dollars around elsewhere. I see him rolling over the Bears defense for around 300 yards and a couple of scores.
Tyrod Taylor (BUF)
Draft kings - $5,800 Fanduel - $7,600
Last week’s most popular waiver claim is this week’s best value at quarterback. He is a fraction of the cost of some of the bigger names and draws the New York Giants in week 4. The G-men have given up a league worst 1,007 yards through the air making Tyrod a must start for the price despite missing Sammy Watkins. The absence of Lesean McCoy should only increase Tyrod’s stat line as he’ll be leaned to carry the team in a potentially high scoring game. (over-under is moving between 47.5 and 45)
Running Backs –
Jeremy Hill (CIN)
Draftkings - $6,500 Fanduel - $6,700
I know that Hill has been a huge disappointment this season to date, but I have a hunch he breaks out of the funk this week against Kansas City. He averaged north of 5 yards a carry in 2014 and I feel his breakout game comes in week 4. Hill is available for well below the daily value that he started the season at and it may be the last time that you have the chance to nab him at #2-3 values. Go ahead and roll him out there in week 4 and reap the rewards.
Melvin Gordon (SD)
Draftkings - $4,900 Fanduel - $6,800
Another week, another Melvin Gordon Recommendation! This one has got to hit! Cleveland has allowed a league worst 158 yards per game on the ground with 3 Touchdowns. This is the week Melvin hits pay dirt and calms his owner’s fears. He should flirt with 100 yards as well depending on game flow. This is a daily league article but if you own him in standard formats don’t be scared to sell high after this one.
Wide Receivers –
Amari Cooper (OAK)
Draftkings - $6,300 Fanduel - $7,200
Derek Carr’s success in Week 4 will translate into big numbers for his weapons and none more so than Cooper. Already showing the big game talent that he was drafted for the young Cooper will continue to roll this week to the tune of 100 yards and a score. His daily cost is much less than the likes of Calvin Johnson who draws the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. I know he is not Megatron….yet, but you can take Cooper’s value to potential and spread those dollars elsewhere this week.
Percy Harvin (BUF)
Draftkings - $4,600 Fanduel - $5,700
This is my stack of the week – Tyrod Taylor and Percy Harvin. This duo will free up a good bit of cash to be spent elsewhere and they should be quite prolific. Sammy Watkins should sit out leaving Harvin as the number 1. He has 13 receptions in the last 2 weeks and should be a good bet for even more targets in week 4. Save the money here and load up elsewhere, Harvin is an exceptional value this week.
Tight Ends –
Greg Olsen (CAR)
Draftkings - $5,400 Fanduel - $6,300
The Carolina Panthers success on offense largely revolves around the success of Olsen and he will be shining this week against the woeful Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After a slow start to the season many were looking to other names to shore up the TE position, but in week 3 Carolina realized that not much else had been working and it would be a good idea to run the offense through their star tight end. Olsen should provide another 100 yard game with 1 or 2 scores giving you a leg up on the competition that is chasing after Jimmy Graham.
Draftkings - $4,500 Fanduel - $5,500
Bennett has failed to impress thus far and now he is bogged down with Jimmy Clausen as his “quarterback” Enter the Oakland Raider’s team who just gave up 100 yards and a touchdown to Gary Barnidge - not exactly a future hall of famer. The price and match up are right but with Clausen he’s far from a sure thing. That said I like Bennett’s chances in week 4 at such an unsure position you could do a lot worse.
Cardinals’ Defense –
Draftkings - $3,400 Fanduel $5,000
The St. Louis Rams roll into town for a week 4 matchup against the red hot Arizona Cardinals and I expect the sputtering Rams offense to get knocked around. With the Cardinals offense firing on all cylinders up to this point in the season I see them taking a sizable lead early allowing the defense to seek out the quarterback and get aggressive in their pass coverage. I would not be surprised in the least to see a pick 6 and multiple sacks on the quarterback. Start Arizona with confidence this weekend.
Eagles’ Defense –
Draftkings - $2,700 Fanduel - $4,500
It’s a bit risky but this is the kind of defensive play that could pay off dividends. They have a prolific return man in Darren Sproles and draw the Redskins who are currently trotting out the turnover prone Kirk Cousins. With 4 interceptions in 3 games I like Philly’s odds of snagging one or two more this week and maybe taking one to the house. If you watch film you see the Eagles defenders constantly swatting at the ball and going for picks - trying to be opportunistic. I expect their ears to be pinned back and ready to roll for this tasty week 4 matchup. Watch Hurricane Joaquin’s (spelling) path
