Brian Hoyer (HOU)
Draftkings - $5,300 Fanduel - $6,900
This is my contrarian, save your budget pick of the week. I’m expecting a little bit of ownership due to the Hopkins factor but this pick could set your apart from the pack in big tournaments. Hoyer has been hovering around the 20 points per week range and I expect roughly the same this Sunday. Let’s not forget how good Arian Foster is in the passing game either, those dinks and dunks Arian takes to the house count to. With no less than 30 pass attempts in his last 3 starts and Arian Foster getting back in the swing of things this could be a sneaky little QB play in week 7 and he’s dirt cheap.
Carson Palmer (AZ)
Draft kings - $6,700 Fanduel - $8,200
Listen Palmer has been an elite level arm when he has been able to stay healthy and he has been able to avoid the injury bug so far in 2015. This week he steps into the primetime spotlight against a pass defense that looks like toilet paper under running water. Carson is going to light the Baltimore defense on fire on Monday so get him in your lineup this week. I would go so far to say that he hits the 350 yard mark with 3 touchdowns if Baltimore makes half an effort on their offensive snaps.
Running Backs –
Latavius Murray (OAK)
Draftkings - $6,100 Fanduel - $7,000
San Diego ranks in the bottom 3 in rush defense this season and just got run over by James starks (should have been Lacy, right?) I’m sure Latavius had time to work out the cobwebs over the bye and is rest and ready to roll. This matchup couldn’t be better. I’d expect the run game to be a big part of the game plan to keep red hot Rivers off the field too. At this price tag I’m starting Latavius in all formats this week. He’ll be heavily owned but you’ll need his 120 yards and two touchdowns to stay in contention this week.
Todd Gurley (STL)
Draftkings - $5,000 Fanduel - $7,400
Gurley is starting to assert himself as the focal point of the ST. Louis offense recently. While that is not saying a lot as the passing game has been subpar he has been making up for it with his quality runs and receptions out of the backfield. With the Cleveland Browns coming to town this weekend I see Gurley starting to break loose at the end of the first half and all throughout the second. Still having good value to potential I suggest you jump on him before the price goes up as it surely will.
Wide Receivers –
Martavis Bryant (PIT)
Draftkings - $4,700 Fanduel - $6,900
Few teams have given up more yards to wide receivers than the Chiefs this season. Landry Jones looked like a homeless bum during the preseason but showed signs of life in week 6. I don’t doubt this will be a run heavy game plan to take the pressure off of Landry Jones but the KC front 7 will force the pass eventually. Bryant is fresh and ready to do some damage. He showed what he can do in the short and intermediate game last week and should continue to build on his rapport with Jones. I expect some ownership but not overly saturated, not yet anyway.
John Brown (AZ)
Draftkings - $5,500 Fanduel - $6,700
Last week Brown stepped onto the stage and produced HUGE numbers against the solid, yet unspectacular Steelers pass defense. This week he steps onto the field against a secondary that matches up well with a JV second string offense so look for a few deep balls to head his way. I want to say that he is a main benefactor of Carson Palmers success this week, but a lingering hamstring injury may hold him back a little (although he dealt with the same last week and had 196 yards). I see another 100 yard performance along with a score and that could be on the light side.
Tight Ends –
Ladarius Green (SD)
Draftkings - $2,900 Fanduel - $5,100
By now we are all well versed in Oakland’s tight end coverage woes. This pick is based on the fact that Gates has yet to practice this week due to a knee injury and the fact that Gates will be widely owned, not Green. Green still pulls in all important red zone targets in this offense and could slip in unnoticed for a score or two. Bit of a gut call but I like Green as a sneaky play in a great positional matchup.
Delanie Walker (TEN)
Draftkings - $3,900 Fanduel - $5,500
Even with Mariotta down for the Titans this week I see Walker getting the lion’s share of looks and receptions. A big strong athlete with his quicks is hard to cover and Atlanta has not had much of a track record covering the TE position this season. I see Walker in the 85-95 yard range on 7 receptions and a score.
Atlanta Defense –
Draftkings - $3,300 Fanduel $4,700
Tennessee is in the bottom 6 in total offense and will be without their starting quarterback come Sunday. Atlanta will have to travel for this win but I’m not expecting much from Zach Mettenberger or the rag tag running backs Tennessee trots out each week. Zach could surprise us in his “trade me please” opportunity but I’m not counting on it. Atlanta is my streaming defense of the week.
Panthers Defense –
Draftkings - $3,100 Fanduel - $4,800
The Eagles offense is not that great, I repeat the Eagles offense is not that great. Last week the only real reason the Eagles had a shot was that their defense played above their average. Sam Bradford threw three picks against a completely banged up Giants secondary that is paired with a pretty poor excuse for a pass rush. Carolina is going to feast this coming week, laying out Bradford with ease while causing him to make some errant throws that end up in the waiting arms of the Panthers secondary.
