Matt Stafford (DET)
Draftkings - $5,800 Fanduel - $7,500
Coming off two consecutive solid outings the underachieving signal caller draws the leaky Chiefs pass defense. Kansas City has been much ballyhooed for their lack of pass defense in the first half of the season making for a choice matchup for the money spent. Only 8 teams have surrendered more yards through the air and only the Texans have yielded more passing touchdowns thus far. Stacking your Lions pass catchers should serve you well in week 8.
Phillip Rivers (SD)
Draft kings - $6,600 Fanduel - $8,500
As I stated last week the Baltimore Ravens secondary has been proven to be suspect every week and I expect Rivers to take full advantage on Sunday. He is sitting at the higher end cost wise this week but plan on him being a solid anchor to any daily fantasy team. I see 300+ yards and 3 touchdowns in the not so distant future for the veteran Charger.
Running Backs –
Chris Johnson (AZ)
Draftkings - $4,600 Fanduel - $7,300
I know I pick on the Browns rush defense almost every week but they are money in the bank for opposing running backs! The Browns rush defense has yielded over 1,000 yards on the ground this year with over 150 yards given up per game to go along with their 8 touchdowns allowed. CJ?k is under the radar just enough to be a potential difference maker this week. Given the matchup I think he hits – the price doesn’t hurt either.
Charcandrick West (KC)
Draftkings - $4,700 Fanduel - $6,600
West’s time with the Chiefs certainly started slow as he only managed 81 yards on 21 carries over the last three games, but when given the opportunity to take the lead role last Sunday he out up solid rushing numbers while adding a score. Assuming he gets 17+ touches again this week against a Detroit defense that gives up almost 5 yards a carry and the numbers will start to pile up. 18 carries for 90 yards and a score while catching 2-3 passes for 20 yards is certainly not out of the question.
Wide Receivers –
Willie Snead (NO)
Draftkings - $4,500 Fanduel - $5,800
I was thrilled to see Snead have a down game in week 7 setting up his rock bottom price in week 8. The matchup against the hapless NYG secondary couldn’t be much better. The G-men rank 30th in the league in passing yards allowed allowing nearly 300 yards per game and 10 touchdowns. This is my value pick of the week. Spend on some heavy hitters and slide Snead into the back end of your line up for that low flying 20 point Wide Receiver in week 8.
Alshon Jeffery (CHI)
Draftkings - $6,400 Fanduel - $7,700
Jeffrey started this season hampered by injury and it showed in his stat line when he was actually able to make it in a game. Last week however was a different story as Alshon looked like the player that dominated throughout a majority of the 2014 season. I think that Alshon is going to keep his momentum rolling this week as he has a knack for absolutely lighting up the Vikings. He has scored 3 touchdowns over their last three matchups while putting up 400+ yards and I see him replicating that this week. I’m looking to see 115 yards and a touchdown in week 8.
Tight Ends –
Draftkings - $5,300 Fanduel - $6,000
Not a player you need to be told to start usually but in this case the matchup so juicy, you don’t want to miss out! Pittsburgh ranks 29th in the league against opposing tight ends and is in the bottom 5 in total pass defense. With Big Ben set to return this week this one could soar past its’ 48 point over/under. Eiffert is likely to big part of that.
Eric Ebron (DET)
Draftkings - $3,100 Fanduel - $5,500
The 2nd year Lions TE was a very consistent scorer before going down with an injury early in the season, but last week showed once again that he can be a tough matchup for any team. With his value being so much less than many other starting options his potential vs. cost is excellent. Stafford will be looking his way early and often as I see the Lions starting QB come up with all guns ablazin’ on Sunday morning. 6 receptions for 75 yards and a score will surely help you on Sunday.
Cardinals Defense –
Draftkings - $4,000 Fanduel $5,800
The Cardinals defense has been a bit feast or famine. This week I think they feast. Tied for 3rd in the league with 15 takeaways this hungry defense should be able to choke out the Browns offense and could knock in a score. They are the most expensive defense in both formats this week for a reason. Spend that couple extra hundred this week, you’ll thank yourself come Sunday.
Packers Defense –
Draftkings - $3,300 Fanduel - $4,800
Week 8 is going to be a defining moment for the Packers defense as they roll into Denver in primetime, but I think that they will be up to the challenge. Peyton Manning has certainly started to show his age this year and although still a threat to light a defense up he is also just as likely to be lit up himself. Going against a fast and aggressive Green Bay defense that can get to the QB often will cause Manning to make some quick decisions leading to the eventual pick or two.
