Jameis Winston (TAM)
Draftkings - $5,200 Fanduel - $6,700
Last week the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants had an absolutely epic battle where Eli and Drew went shot for shot the entire game. I know that Winston is not Drew Brees by any means, but against an extremely suspect secondary I can see the rookie doing some major damage at home this weekend. Winston didn’t start out the season scorching the earth, but he has started to step up his game over the last few weeks as he has gotten used to the game speed of the NFL and this weekend will be an opportunity to showcase his big arm. I see his first 300 yard game this weekend along with 2 or possibly three touchdowns. At his current cost it’s hard to get a better value for elite numbers.
Derek Carr (OAK)
Draft kings - $5,500 Fanduel - $7,000
Derek Carr has quietly been rather useful this season. He has decent weapons and a bad pass defense which really boost his fantasy usage. You know who else has a bad pass defense? Pittsburgh. You know what happened last time two bottom 7 pass defenses met? Over 100 points scored and over 1,000 yards of collective offense. I think another shootout is on the way.
Running Backs –
Jonathan Stewart (CAR)
Draftkings - $4,300 Fanduel - $6,600
While Stewart has not found the end zone as often as you would like this season he has been a solid runner with great vision. This weekend he lines up opposite of a run defense that allows a high number on yards per carry and Carolina will use that to their advantage while trying to keep the Packers in check and slow Green Bay’s offensive pace. If Cam Newton doesn’t try and steal the goal line carries in week 9 I see Stewart with right around 100 yards and a touchdown or 2.
Ronnie Hillman (DEN)
Draftkings - $4,600 Fanduel - $6,400
Snoop Dogg’s protégé was literally running away with the starting job before suffering a “tweak” of sorts last Sunday night. I expect the Broncos to continue to use the run game to open up the passing attack with Hillman getting the lion’s share of the carries. The Colts rush defense ranks in the bottom 3 currently and may be dead last after this weekend. Hillman’s price tag with this match up begs you to start him.
Wide Receivers –
Mike Evans (TAM)
Draftkings - $6,800 Fanduel - $7,500
I have already covered how I feel about the New York Giants secondary and the main benefactor of Winston’s looks this weekend will be Mike Evans. Last week was a sore spot for him, but against a struggling Redskins defense 2 weeks ago he was an absolute monster and I believe that is the Evans we will see on Sunday. His size and speed will prove to be too much for the Giants secondary and he will hit his spots with ease. Hauling in 8 receptions for 120 yards and a score is not out of the question and I would not be surprised if he ends up at around 160 with 10 receptions and 2 scores.
Amari Cooper (OAK)
Draftkings - $6,700 Fanduel - $7,300
Amari Cooper and Derek Carr is my stack of the week. The Steelers are giving up nearly 300 yards per game through the air. They’ve also given up 12 passing touchdowns. Cooper is a top flight talent and currently a top 20 wide receiver. I’d expect that ranking to rise against a very beatable Pittsburgh secondary.
Tight Ends –
Delanie Walker (TEN)
Draftkings - $4,200 Fanduel - $5,500
Walker has been one of the only bright spots on a struggling Tennessee offense this season and when Mariotta steps back onto the field this weekend managers who start Walker will be rewarded. Going up against a New Orleans defense that was shredded through the air last weekend Walker should be able to pick his spots early and often and I see him sneaking in the end zone for at least one score. I’m confident that he hits 85 yards on 7-8 receptions which given his cost is makes him a worthwhile investment.
Heath Miller (PIT)
Draftkings - $2,700 Fanduel - $5,800
I’m all in on the Steelers – Raiders and would love to start a few lineups with the Steelers receivers but a big part of DFS is finding the right value. Heath Miller is that value. I’ve already mentioned the overall pass defense woes of the Raiders but where they are really soft is against opposing tight ends. Miller got hot last week hauling in 10 receptions, look for him to build on that in week 9 in a this tasty match-up.
Patriots Defense –
Draftkings - $3,300 Fanduel $4,900
The Washington Redskins are going to be down big early and Kirk Cousins already has a bad tendency of turning the ball over. Going against a top flight team with a solid defense will not help matters this coming weekend. I am looking into the future right now and can already see a grass stained jersey with a face mask full of grass. Look for a pick 6, fumble, and multiple sacks this weekend.
Falcons Defense –
Draftkings - $3,400 Fanduel - $4,900
Blaine Gabbert in, Colin Kaepernick out, Vernon Davis out, Carlos Hyde out. The 49er’s are spiraling out of control. I only hope the Falcon’s don’t hurt Gabbert forcing Kaepernick back into the game. I see no reason to fear anything about this 49ers offense, they may not even cross the goal line.
