Week 6 is upon us! It seems like only yesterday we were plotting and planning our draft strategy and now we are wheeling and dealing positioning ourselves for a playoff birth. There are 3 types of dreams right now: your 5-0 / 4-1 I’m looking good crowd, your 3-2 / 2-3 I’m in the thick of it folks and lastly the 1-4 / 0-5 full blown panic mode people. If you are in that last category be on alert, this is the week where you will fall prey to trade hawks. Keep your guard up! Thats said, no matter where you are sitting in those three categories this is easily the hottest week for trades and the trades you make this week can easily make or break your season.
I answer hundreds of trade questions each week via the Fantasy Life App (join public chat “The Trade Expert”) as well as my website www.tradefantasyfootball.com and a few names keep coming up. Lets take a look at some of the most popular names I’ve noticed repeating in my trade analysis this week…
Lamar Miller - Stock down
Miller has been a major bust so far in fantasy, arguably the biggest bust that is still healthy. His value is down but he is still getting amazing usage which in my mind makes him a solid buy this week. Why this week you ask? Prime time, sunday night at home vs. The Colts who’s rush defense is nothing to be afraid of. Despite his struggles, Miller is top 4 is rushing attempts and top 15 in receptions among running backs. He is getting the touches he just needs to score! Mark my words, if Lamar Miller scores this week his price will go right back up to where it was in preseason. If he scores and goes over 100 yards rushing he’ll be damn near untouchable.
Tom Brady - Stock up
Welcome back Mr. Brady! TB12 wasted no time getting back to his vengeful ways torching the Browns in basically one half of football this past Sunday. If you have been sitting on Tom Brady, good for you! If you have been starting someone like Andrew Luck or Aaron Rodgers, maybe try a 2 for 1 offer to the Brady owner. His price is high but perhaps the name you offer plus a useful RB or WR (assuming you can spare one) could get Tom terrific on your roster - it will be worth it.
Tevin Coleman - Stock Up
The Atlanta backfield is a bit of an enigma right now. Freeman out-snapped Coleman a great deal last week but Coleman still put up huge numbers through the passing game. I prefer Coleman's skill set to Freeman’s and I still have him pegged as the back to own in Atlanta. Be on the lookout for someone trying to “sell high” on Coleman. He can be a decent priced asset especially if you can get him added to a deal as a throw in. The way the running backs are splitting in Atlanta could easily cause some “value confusion” among owners who aren’t quite paying attention. I’m not specifically targeting Coleman but i’m keeping my eye on him.
Jimmy Graham - Stock Up
Here’s a guy who could really be a steal this week. I cannot stress enough, this is a guy you need to add before he plays in week 6. Atlanta has given up more passing touchdowns than any other team in the NFL (tied with Detroit) The reason I’m thinking he could be a steal is for the simple fact that many who had Jimmy Graham likely had him as a flier and are likely rostering another “better” Tight end. One of the best ways to approach a trade is to go after the other owners spare parts. Take a look at the Graham owner’s roster - i’m betting Graham is spare change for them. Owners who aren’t paying attention will see his lackluster target and reception numbers and may dismiss him as expendable. Take advantage! Graham will be useful (especially this week) but make sure you don’t overpay!
