Week 5 is just about in the books and what a great week it was! Everything from comeback wins to blowouts to surprise victories! As a football fan this is the type of football Sunday you hope for every week! As I say that I think in my head, how did this great weekend of games translate into fantasy? Well, for me, it turned out pretty good! But as a whole, what did we see from some players that aren’t talked about as much as others, or some players that, until now, have not reached their potential? Well, let’s examine a few!
OK, so his numbers today weren’t very special, but McKinnon got 20 carries Sunday afternoon and in addition had 3 passes his way, of which he caught 1. That type of usage is tremendous for a fantasy player. That’s 2 weeks in a row he has 20 plus touches! There may be a times when “Mr goal line touchdown” Matt Asiata, vultures a touchdown from 1 yard out, but sign me up every week for 20 plus touches! He is only owned in about 85% of fantasy leagues, which is about 15% short of what it should be! If he is available in your league, go get him!
He’s baaaaaack! The addition of Tom Brady is enormous to everyone in the Patriots offense. For James White, it means everything. He’s been quiet so far this season, but today he showed what he can bring to the table. Now, he only carried the ball 4 times, but it’s the receptions that you love! He caught all 5 of his passes Sunday and almost took one to the house. His huge day is coming, but for now he is a flex in standard leagues and a must start in ppr leagues. If you can believe it, he is only owned in 38% and 46% of ESPN and yahoo leagues respectively! Go get him and start him with confidence!
Mr. Beasley is one of the steadiest wide receivers in the league so far. For the same reasons you start players like, Jarvis Landry or Julian Edelman, you should start Beasley. So far this season he has not caught less than 50 yards in a game, which is more than I can say for the other two players i mentioned earlier. He has 1 touchdown, but in a ppr league he is a solid wide receiver 2. In standard leagues he could be owned in 12 leagues and keep your eye on him in 10 team league as well. He is probably available in your league as he is only owned in 40% of leagues!
The San Diego Chargers love to sling the rock up and down the field. With their young group of wideouts, who can blame them. The one with the best skill set and physical attributes to be great in this league is Tyrell Williams. His combination of size and speed is a dream for quarterbacks everywhere in the NFL, and it just so happens that one of the NFL’s best has him on his side. Williams is only owned in a little over 60% of both yahoo and ESPN leagues. That is mind blowing considering what he is doing so far in his short NFL career. He is on pace for 80 plus catches, 1,000 plus yards and 7 touchdowns. Those are wide receiver 1 type numbers! Go out and get him if he is in your league! Start him every week and feel great about it!
