I am in a 12 team keeper league and need to make a decision. Do I keep Tom Brady or trade him for Cam Newton?
Show me the TD's,
Thanks for writing in. One of the most important parts of fantasy football trade analysis is considering all aspects of the teams in question as well as the league itself. This being a fantasy football keeper league trade question adds a bit of intrigue to the equation. Tom Brady was once again lights out last season posting a whopping 5,235 passing yards with 39 touchdowns. Brady even Added 3 rushing touchdowns which obviously pale in comparison to Cam Newton's 14 Rushing touchdowns. In standard scoring fantasy football leagues rushing touchdowns award 6 points and passing touchdowns earn 3.5 or 4 points, making Cam's rushing prowess very enticing. In addition to the rushing scores Newton passed for 21 touchdowns on 4,051 yards through the air. The fact that this is a keeper league makes this a matter of preference. Tom Brady is a proven commodity with a stellar track record but let's face it, he is not getting any younger. Cam Newton is the young up and comer with limitless potential. The same could be said about Vince Young a few years ago and look where he is now. It may be difficult for Newton to repeat his 2011 success with his current supporting cast. Opposing teams now have tape on him and will be keying on his strengths. If its me, I'm keeping Brady. Until Cam proves he can do it every year I am sticking with the sure thing, but I could not blame you if you went out and got Newton. Have fun with it! I do not think you can go wrong here.

Here's my dilemma, I have come in either last or 2nd to last the past 2 seasons with injuries kicking my butt. I've locked in probably the top pick in next years fantasy draft with my awesome performance as last place usually gets top pick. I'm contemplating not keeping anyone as my strong horse is the great Chris Johnson whom I would like to kick the gold teeth out of his mouth. Do I keep him or do I free up that space in hopes of a higher draft pick?
Thanks for writing in. That is a tough choice to make, I think it all depends on who is going to be available should you decide to let Chris Johnson go. Assuming your league mates have any sort of fantasy football knowledge I doubt any stronger options will be available. I would start poking around to see which players are likely to be chosen as keepers. If this is a standard scoring league, I would not let Chris Johnson go unless you start hearing top 7 players being thrown back into the mix. In a down year, Chris Johnson put up 1,047 yards with 4 touchdowns. He also added 418 yards receiving on 79 targets. Still pretty good fantasy stats. I’m keeping CJ but could not blame you if you decided to trade him for a more consistent fantasy football asset after his first big game.
