Draft Day has come and gone! My league held our live draft yesterday and I am pretty happy with the outcome. Here is my team:
Quarterbacks: Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler
Running Backs: Jamaal Charles, Carlos Hyde, Darren McFadden, Andre Williams, Matt Jones
Wide Receivers: Emmanuel Sanders, Golden Tate, Nelson Agholar, Pierre Garcon, Donte Moncrief, Brian Quick
Tight Ends: Martellus Bennett, Delanie Walker, Owen Daniels
Kicker: Justin Tucker
Some of my disappointments were not drafting Andrew Luck and or TY Hilton. They were both members of my team last year and got me to the playoffs. However, I do think picking up Peyton Manning was a score if for nothing else trade leverage down the road.
The live draft was fun from a social perspective. I wore an Atlanta Falcons shirt and had my son dressed in Broncos gear. My family doesn’t have a “favorite” team per say we just enjoy the game. It did feel like it took a lot longer than past years. The draft started at 6:00pm and finally wrapped at 8:45pm. The extended time frame was mostly because there are a number of people that would have just placed their online profile to auto pick if we hadn’t been together, but with the live draft they attended and actually participated.
It should be interesting to see if there are any trade negotiations in the next few weeks before regular season and how the teams hold up the first week. I think some of the players that drafted in the middle might look to more stuff around. Luckily, I was 2nd overall pick for this draft. I am happy with the team I drafted so I am going to let it roll for week one. I am sure trade offers are coming my way for Peyton Manning, but I may be wrong.
Stay tuned for an update after the first week of games!
