The season has been going just okay so I haven’t felt overly excited to share my journey. I am currently sitting with a 4-3 record. Considering this means I have won more than I have lost I should be happy, but given my past fantasy football experiences this is really a bad record for me. I drafted Peyton Manning partly because it is Peyton Manning and partly because he was the best option when I was looking for a quarterback. He was off this week so I picked up Brian Hoyer to fill in. Many people may say “Brian Hoyer?” but there is reasoning behind this move. Unlike your typical fantasy player looking at records or performance I selected him because he played collegiate football at Michigan State University. I grew up in East Lansing and am a fierce Spartan fan. This week I was anticipating a lost because my team was so hap hazard so I threw Hoyer in the mix. The first half of his game I thought I made a huge mistake, but like all of my Spartans he made a huge comeback and actual got me more points than Peyton has been producing this season. Peyton will be heading my team again this week, but only because I will be at the Bronco/Packers game! I have Emmanuel Sanders on my team so if Peyton can connect with Sanders just once it is a great play for me.
Overall, my frustration this season is the lack of consistency from my players. For example, Donte Moncrief had a great start to the season, but showed signs of slowing down with declines three weeks in a row. When he only scored .4 for me I decided to bench him in the hopes of finding someone to pick up the slack. The week he was benched he scored 13.5 points!!! I maintain you can do all the research you want for your team, but sometimes it really does just come down to luck.
I promise to get you an update heading into playoffs. Although, I am only slightly hopeful it will be that I made the playoffs. It has been an interesting, exciting, and frustrating season to date. Good luck this week!
